Hermann Oak Racetrack Leather Clutch
I have a couple of questions: He mentions that it will penetrate some thin leathers and/or leathers like swede so then does it ever dry to where it won't continuously leech out or do you have to absorb all of the extra dye until it no longer can be absorbed into a cloth? Also, it goes on flat so I'm curious where the shine came from on those holsters, was the leather shiny before the dye was applied or shined up afterwards and how, just buffing?
In reference to dyeing suede, it is very challenging to seal in any dye. Even the tanneries struggle with this. We only recommend using it on Vegetable Tan Leathers or Chrome Tan Crusts. Yes, he mentions you can use it on initially anything, but you would need to remove the finish before doing so and at that point it becomes an experiment. After applying the dye, you'll want to buff in order to get the shined up effect.
@@SpringfieldLeather Interesting, thank you! 👍
I appreciate the information/content with these tips and tricks.
Danny what type of tracing film do you use
Thank you for showing this process of making a saddle
I wanted to comment on Denny's text message he said that he received! Don't listen Denny!!! haha I will probably NEVER do a saddle, but I still want to watch! Maybe it will encourage me to give it a shot!
It turned out beautiful!
Thanks a ton🙏
Beautiful sides🦬🐮🐂❤
Thank you!
Thanks so much for showing this whole process 🙏💯👍
Thank you for watching it!!!!
I love this project super awesome 💯👍
Thank you! We love that you are watching as well!!!
So do you need to use top grain leather for all this. since you're just scribing most of it off
yes, it creates the most structurally sound saddle.
So neat to see all the processes needed to make a saddle! I am in awe. I look forward to catching up on these
We are excited to see how many people are joining us!
Is there a western saddle pattern for purchase ?
If you buy the DVD bundle by, I believe Bruce Grant, on their website, it had a pattern with it. I'm sure it's a bit different from Denny's, but it's a guide.
Most saddle patterns arr going to ball park style. Each tree is going to be a little different each time. We will release ball park patterns that Denny has made over the years.
👌
I love Springfield Leather Co. Great instructional videos, great people, and awesome customer service. If you have leather, you're tossing, I'll take them. I want to make hole plugs out if them.
Right on
My life story...
I'm glad that you are doing a series on this project. Trying to make a saddle for my daughter. She is always working with horses. I'm taking my time for this project. Thanks for this
If you have any question along the way, please ask. We will get Denny to answer them for you!
@@SpringfieldLeather Thanks
im going to love watching this roll on friday(Denny is the goat)
You are the a real pioneer cutting patterns for saddles. I have the 15 inch steel press cutter, a 19 inch- for saddles and all of the side pieces in dies for the cut out. 1925 heavy air press striking the die. You are the man with the know how using a good head knife. Beautiful craftsmanship that you display.
Been watching a few saddle making videos and saddle related stuff trying to learn more about them even though I've only rode about 3 trained trail horses in my life, lol, but what better way to show off your leather crafting skills than making a nice saddle? I want to make one if only to display it somewhere. But my anxiety level trying to make my first one would probably be like when Denny almost cut that piece out where there was a hole in the leather and he calmly says "Oh I almost made a mistake!" I would have probably shook my head and yelled "I ruined it!!!" 😅
What is that twinkling noise in the background?
Noise artifacts. We switched microphones after this episode.
This is awesome! Looking forward to watching this series of videos 😊
It was great meeting you last Saturday - and going on the tour of Springfield Leather! Great job
Whats the benefit of using head knife vs anither knife
The thickness of the leather and the need to cut all the way through on the first pass make the headknife the correct choice.
Ive always wanted to make a saddle but i am not a horse person
Para mi gusto es fea
Nice job, Stacy! Looks great
Thanks so much!
This video seems invaluable to me. I am in need of a product to repair football boots (cleats). I guess I will need to look at the Renia site to get info on what primers to use.
Whats an inch?
What leather is that?
Looks like some Natural Harness www.springfieldleather.com/Natural-Harness-Leather
Hi ! Could you add a products list ?
Beautiful place
Thank you!
Where do I get a weighted metal ruler like THAT?! :D
www.springfieldleather.com/Craftplus-Professional-Safety-Cutting-Rulers Here is one we offer just like that except it's black.
What application do you make use of for pattern designs
We use Adobe Illustrator.
First off, I just had to look up renaissance pants. It's been a few decades since I've been to one. Those look very comfortable. So thanks for that.
They are!
Do you know the cost of your subscription yet. Not on FB. Thanks
$4.99 you should find a button "JOIN"
@Springfield leather Where did you get the tree? And is there a leather product list for this project
All of that is in the works. I will be posting a community post that will have all of that this week so keep an eye out! We are going to make it as easy as possible for you to shop for all the components.
See this video for tree information. ua-cam.com/users/liveCAlutWmjfaA Pricing is about 43 min into this video.
Im subscribed on yall for youtube but dont see how to do a paid subscription??
There should be a button labeled JOIN on videos now.
We just finished setting all that up. I will make a community post that Links everyone to a sign-up. Thank you!
Do we get a discount to purchase the recorded ones if we subscribe for the live? Or how does that work? Lol
Recorded videos will be free. They will have some lulls removed in them.
MUCH better lighting! We can see your beautiful face(s)! Thank you!
how do you effectively bevel to the end where the corners are?
Denny needs a raise 🧐
Agreed!
How often do you have saddle classes
This is going to be the first and most likely the only one. Denny spends more times these days teaching people how to tool vs making saddles.
Why do some makers CURVE THE BUSCADERO, AND SOME MAKE THEM STRAIGHT?
Secondly the processes of top coating your leather too was also explained throughly. I really dislike resolene as it gives a plastic feel and kills any leather smell plus seals any future option of conditioning leather. I want a level of protection that doesn't take away leather for being leather and it's beauty in its natural state.
This episode was absolutely dynamite folks. Being a European crafter and actually realising the differences between our hides and the states due to tanning process and fibre was brilliantly explained as I've personally experienced it myself.
Thank you!
Good to see Mrs. Denny and Miss GrandDenny!! So she likes Skunks and Flowers....things that smell....
That's why she keeps Denny around! Haha. Just kidding!
Denny talking about Jim Linnel reminded me of my career mentor. He wanted to teach because he claimed it was the best way to learn and hone skills. he said that students would ask questions that came from a perspective the teacher had never envisioned and that would make them think and learn so they could answer.
